ATLANTA, Ga. - - Belmont University track and field turned in a number of standout performances at the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend.
Fresh off his OVC championship victory, junior Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson (Newbury, England) blitzed a competitive field in the 1500 meters. His personal record and Belmont record time of 3:43.13 was nearly two seconds clear of the field.
Bridger-Wilkinson will head into the NCAA East Regional meet with confidence.
Also on the men's side, junior Austin Landis (Victor, Mont.) placed sixth in the javelin with a distance of 60.21m and ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.18m.
Freshman Stuart Landis (Victor, Mont.) placed 15th in the javelin.
OVC Champion junior Erick Kigen (Eldoret, Kenya) placed 16th in a deep 800 meter field, coming in at 1:52.09.
Junior John Inniger (Arlington, Ohio) came in 27th in the 200 meters in a time of 22.05.
On the women's side, sophomore Hannah Wittman (Lindenhurst, Ill.) placed 16th in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:34.07. Senior Jilian Linklater (Lake Orion, Mich.) placed 16th in high jump with a mark of 1.61m.
Sophomore Emily Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) came in 29th in the 400 meters in a time of 56.58.
Coaches will sort through times and marks Sunday to determine qualifiers for the NCAA East Regional meet at the Univ. of North Florida May 29-31.
