JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Belmont Track and Field junior Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson (Newbury, England) posted one of the fastest times of the afternoon en route to advancing to the semifinals in the 1500m at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Round, hosted by the University of North Florida. This marks the second time in his career he has advanced to the semifinals in the event.
The Newbury, England native finished third in his heat with a time of 3:45.09, which went on to be the third-best time of the day.
"The pack went out a little faster than we would have liked, but overall, we're very pleased with the result," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jeff Langdon. "He ran a hard race and there's still a lot left in there. He'll definitely be ready for the next round."
"I felt pretty good about the race," said Bridger-Wilkinson. "The pace was a bit quick, but I felt confident that I could hold up and still finish well. I'm excited for Saturday. It should be a good one."
Bridger-Wilkinson competes in the semifinals of the 1500m on Saturday, May 31. Race time is approximately 5:30 p.m. CT. Live stats will be available.
