Bridger-Wilkinson Narrowly Misses Advancing on Final Day of NCAA East Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Belmont Track and Field junior Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson (Newbury, England) narrowly missed advancing to the national final of the 1500m on Saturday at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Round, hosted by the University of North Florida.

The Newbury, England native finished eighth in his heat with a time of 3:46.14, and took 14th overall in the event.  He narrowly missed finishing in the top-five of his heat by eight-tenths of a second.  The top-five from each of the two heats will move on to compete in Eugene, Ore.

"It's a tough way to end the season, but he's really had a great year," said Jeff Langdon, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field.  "It would have been nice to come out of this with a qualifying time, but it's a big accomplishment to have come this far, and he'll get another shot it next year."
