NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced academic honors for the 2014-15 track and field season. Belmont women's track and field rose to the top and garnered Division I All-Academic team honors from the organization.
Seven women's teams from the OVC earned All-Academic team status for the 2014-15 track and field season from the USTFCCCA. Belmont boasts the second-highest GPA in the conference with a team mark of 3.38, just behind Eastern Kentucky with a 3.50. Also making the list were Morehead State (3.29), Eastern Illinois (3.27), Murray State (3.20), Austin Peay (3.07), and Jacksonville State (3.07).
A total of 224 women's teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
"These academic awards are especially gratifying, knowing that the student athletes in our program are taking rigorous courses and are able to balance this with all the hard work they put in each day at the track," said Belmont's Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jeff Langdon. "We have a really special group of young men and women in our track and field program."
