NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont Women's Track and Field team will look to build on its recent successes when it heads to the Georgia Tech Invitational. The team enters the weekend sporting a No. 22 ranking in the South Region in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
Several Bruins with some of the best marks in the OVC will be in action in Atlanta. Highlights on the track include freshman LaCarol Baynes (Houston, Texas), racing in the 400m Hurdles with her eyes on moving into one of the top two times in the OVC in the event, after recording the third fastest time earlier this month. Junior Kiera Weems (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) owns a pair of top-20 OVC marks in the 800m and 1500m and is racing in both events. Senior Jessie Wynn (Peoria, Ill.) stands 21st in the 800m coming into this weekend and looks to set a new PR.
In the field events, Belmont will also look to make waves. Freshman Alyssa Andersen (Oswego, Ill.) and junior Josie Hardin (Acworth, Ga.), who own the fourth and fifth best OVC marks in the Hammer Throw, respectively, will look to improve in the event. Freshman Hannah Beth Moorhouse (Morristown, Tenn.) has eyes on moving up in the High Jump after she tied for the ninth-best mark in the OVC earlier this month.
