NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The day one of the 2016 OVC Outdoor Championship had strong performances from the Belmont Women's Track and Field team at Tennessee State's Edward S. Temple Track. The Bruins were able to qualify for finals, earn points on the first day and tally seven top-15 finishes.
The lone Bruin who earned points was freshman Hannah Beth Moorhouse (Morristown, Tenn.) in the High Jump. Classmate Riley Kellum (Jackson, Miss.), competing in her first collegiate Heptathlon, grabbed three finishes in the top-eight, recording 2,215 points.
Advancing to the finals on the track was freshman LaCarol Haynes (Houston, Texas) in the 400m Hurdles, after notching the top time in the prelims, 1:01.09.
On Saturday, the final events for the Decathlon and Heptathlon begin at 9 a.m., followed by field events at 11 a.m. and the remaining events on the track beginning at 2 p.m. Single day passes are $3 each and a pass for the entire two-day meet is $5. Live stats and video will be available.
