EUGENE, Ore. -- Belmont Women's Track and Field senior Hannah Wittman (Lindenhurst, Ill.) battled against some of the top talent in the nation on Thursday night to put a bow on an extraordinary collegiate career. At the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, she placed 23rd in the 10,000m, earning an Honorable Mention All-America nod.
In a steady rain, the Lindenhurst, Ill., native finished 23rd overall with a time of 34:20.75 in the highly competitive field packed with runners from all over the country.
Wittman becomes the first Belmont woman to make a trip to TracktownUSA since the 2008 season. Thursday night's appearance was her second time vying on the national stage after notching a top-85 finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championship in the fall. Wittman earned her berth to the national championship with her program record setting performance at the historic Mt. SAC Relays back in April.
