Coming Home to Music City

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University women's track and field team will return to Nashville to compete in the Music City Challenge Feb. 10-11. 

The meet, hosted by Vanderbilt, will be the final indoor meet of the season before the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships.  

The meet will begin Friday at 4 p.m. with the men's and women's high jump and the women's weight throw.  Saturday, action will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women's pole vault. 

Action will be held at the Vanderbilt Student Rec Center.

Fellow OVC member Tennessee State will be competing.  Other notable entries include South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Arizona, Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, and Vanderbilt. Arkansas, a top five program, will also be in attendance. 

Last weekend the Bruins found success boasting nine top 10 finishes at the MTSU Invitational.

The Bruins were led by junior Kiera Weems (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) who notched a first place finish in the mile run. 

Belmont had two athletes place in the top five in the weight throw.  Sophomore Alyssa Andersen (Oswego, Ill.) finished in third place and senior Josie Hardin (Acworth, Ga.) secured a fourth place finish.  

Sophomore Hannah Beth Moorhouse (Morristown, Tenn.) placed fourth in the high jump.
