NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University women's track and field team competed in the Music City Challenge this weekend at Vanderbilt.

Belmont was led by their distance runners with three Bruins recording personal records in the 3000 meter run.

Junior Jessica King (Fishers, Ind.) led the Bruins' squad with a 20th place finish and personal record in the 3000 meter run, clocking in at 10:04.22. Junior Kiera Weems (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) also recorded a PR with a time of 10:06.01 while teammate freshman Maria Brauer (Oakford, Ill.) finished with a time of 10:20.82, a personal record.

"I'm really proud of the girls all around.  We had so much improvement this weekend, and I'm excited to see what they're capable of in two weeks at the championship meet.  Our sprint crew is coming around and our distance athletes are firing on all cylinders," said Assistant Coach Ashley Casavant.

The Bruins will be back in action for the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 24-25 in Charleston, Ill.
