BOWLING GREEN, KY – The Belmont University women's track and field team competed in the Hilltopper Relays this weekend.
The Belmont throws squad rounded out the weekend of competition hosted by Western Kentucky.
Junior Karly Hibbard (Edmonds, Wash.) boasted a really strong competition making it to the Javelin finals. Ten months after surgery, Hibbard executed a strong showing with a mark of 37.90 meters which is the OVC's second best mark of the season. Her performance gave her a fourth place finish this weekend. Teammates sophomore Alyssa Andersen (Oswego, Ill.) and junior Morgan Tweddle (Centerville, Va.) also competed in the event, both also making the finals. Andersen boasted a mark of 30.41 meters and Tweddle recorded a throw of 29.56 meters.
Andersen also competed in the shot put finishing with a top ten finish with a mark of 11.02 meters.
"It was awesome to see Karly take 6 big throws and feel good about them. She's about 10 months post-op from her Tommy John's surgery and she got over a big mental hurdle today. Stuart had consistent throws in the men's javelin, and his rhythm is coming together really well," said Assistant Coach Joe Frye.
The Bruins will be back in action next weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Austin Peay Governors Invitational.
