NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University women's track and field team will be back on the track this holiday weekend at the Austin Peay State University Invitational.
Action at Fortera Stadium will begin in nearby Clarksville at 5 p.m. Friday with the pole vault and at 10 a.m. Saturday with the discus and shot put.
Belmont will compete amongst a field of nineteen schools. Fellow OVC members Austin Peay, Morehead State, Murray State, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and UT Martin will also be competing. Neighboring Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee will also be in attendance.
A small group of athletes represented Belmont last weekend at the Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky University.
The Bruins' throws squad had another great weekend in Bowling Green. Junior Karly Hibbard (Edmonds, Wash.) had a strong competition boasting the OVC's second best mark of the season in the javelin with a throw of 37.90 meters.
Alyssa Andersen (Oswego, Ill.) continued to build on success in her sophomore campaign boasting top ten finishes in both the shot put, javelin, and hammer throw.
Freshman Lauren Denemark (Willowbrook, Ill.) led the distance crew with a second place finish in the 3000 meter run clocking in at 10:41.22. Fellow freshman Sierra Lax (Columbus, Ind.) and senior Molly Foster (Johnson City, Tenn.) boasted top five finishes.
