NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A small group of Belmont track and field athletes competed in meets in Tennessee and Georgia this past weekend in preparation for the OVC Championship.
At the Tennessee Challenge in Knoxville, three Belmont throwers competed and each posted top-five finishes. On the women's side, junior Karly Hibbard placed second in the javelin with a mark of 115-02, whlile in the hammer throw, sophomore Alyssa Anderson finished fifth with a throw of 160-81. Senior Stuart Landis was the lone male to compete in Knoxville and placed second in the javelin with a mark of 169-08.
Just south of Knoxville in Athens, Georgia, several Belmont runners took part in the Torrin Lawrence Memorial Meet at the University of Georgia. In the 400 meters, junior Nathan Nammour continued his solid spring season as he placed fourth with a time of 47.61, while freshman Ryan Teague was sixth at 49.16.
In the 1500 meters, junior Anthony Didion finished in fourth place at 3:57.31, while sophomore Ben Weisel was 28th with a mark of 4:19.26.
Finally, in the 400 meter hurdles, junior Caleb Corprew placed an impressive fourth with a time of 52.83.
The track and field teams will be back in action next Friday-Saturday, May 12-13, at the OVC Championship in Oxford, Alabama.
