Exceeding Expectations

OXFORD, Ala. – The Belmont University women's track and field team wrapped up its season at the OVC Championship in Oxford, Ala. This weekend.

Saturday proved to be another successful day for the Belmont throws squad.  Junior Karly Hibbard (Edmonds, Wash.) brought home the bronze medal in the javelin.  Her mark of 41.28 meters was her best mark of the season.

"I'm really proud of the throws crew.  Everyone stepped up when it was crunch time.  We had a lot of seniors in the group this year and I was happy to see them go out on a positive note.  Sean, Del, Stuart, and Josie all left with PR's and medals this weekend.  It's a fitting end to some fantastic careers," Said Assistant Coach Joe Frye.

On the track, the 4X400 meter relay team boasted a successful race, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:02.40 giving them the seventh place finish.

"The women's team went out and competed this weekend.  It was a long meet with a young group of athletes.  We definitely learned a lot, but also came through and exceeded expectations.  This weekend is the first step of better things to come," said Associate Head Coach Cameron Harvey.
