NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Belmont Bruins officially kicked off the indoor track & field season at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
The Bruins did a very nice job of keeping up with the competition that was at this event, beating several top schools and setting a few personal records along the way.
Payton Barlow, the sophomore from White House, Tenn. set a new personal record for herself in the women's 400m dash, in which she finished 13th with a time of 57.14. Her previous time was 57.40. She beat 41 runners in that event, including some against some of the top schools, such as Georgia Tech, Auburn, and Connecticut.
Junior Kortney Shardt also set herself a personal record in the 3000 meter run. Shardt placed 15th with a time of 10:04.01. She beat her record by a whopping 10 seconds, as her previous best was 10:14.67.
Sophomore Jennette Morley set herself a new personal record, as she cleared the bar at 1.60 meters high. Her previous record was 1.58m.
Belmont returns to action on Friday, as they will be competing in the Thundering Herd Invitational in Huntington W.Va from January 25 - 26.
