ATLANTA – Though few in number Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational, Belmont women's track and field athletes weren't short on highlights on the track.
Belmont's two individual competitors accounted for two personal season bests on the final day of Georgia Tech's meet in Atlanta.
Sophomore Payton Barlow (White House, Tenn.) ran not only her season-best time in the 200 meters but a career best as well. She finished the 200 in 25.38 seconds to place 22nd in a deep field.
The 200 isn't even Barlow's top event though. She added a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters in 56.44.
Sophomore Caroline Pruitt (Allen, Texas) then put together her best lap of the season in the 400-meter hurdles. Pruitt crossed the finish line in 1:04.38 to take 11th place.
The only other placer for the Bruins on Saturday came in the long relay. Belmont's 4x400-meter relay team scored a fifth-place finish in 4:01.71.
Most of the Belmont squad will take this next week off to recuperate and prepare for the final push toward the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships coming up in less than three weeks. The OVC Championships begin May 9 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
