NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Behind a solid showing from the plate, Belmont (2-13-0) powered its way to its second win of the season when they defeated Murray State (2-10-0) in the first game of their double header.  Behind home runs from sophomore Ashley Byers and senior Erin Gier, the Bruins went on to win by a score of 9-6.

Murray State kicked off the scoring in the first inning when a single to left field drove in two runs.

Belmont added two more runs in the inning to go up in the game by five runs.

Murray State made a brief comeback attempt, but two runs was all that the Racers could muster as they fell to the Bruins by a score of 9-6.
