Softball Shut Out in Final Game of War Eagle Classic

AUBURN, Ala. - - In a disappointing end to a disappointing weekend, Belmont suffered another shut-out loss, 0-8, to Murray State. The offensive and defensive struggles continued for the Bruins, who were shut out for the third time in the War Eagle Classic. The loss dropped Belmont to 4-10 on the season.

The Bruins used nearly every player on the roster to try and spark some offense, but were unable to generate a run for the third straight game. For the first time all season, Belmont was unable to record a single hit and left three runners on base. The Bruins used three different pitchers in the game and junior Ashley Byers got her second start of the season, while sophomore Courtney Elrod made her third relief appearance.

Belmont returns to Nashville to open the home portion of their schedule against Tennessee Tech. Due to construction still underway at Rose Park, the double-header will be played at Tennessee State University in Nashville. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2nd. The second game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
