CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team finished in fourth place at this week's F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate held at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Bruins shot a team score of 306 (their second lowest of the season) to finish the tournament in fourth place with a 36-hole score of 617. Jacksonville State won the team title with a score of 607. Murray State placed second at 608, while Eastern Kentucky was third at 609.
"We played well on a very hard golf course," said Lissa Bradford, Belmont's head coach. "I was especially pleased that we improved our scores from round one to round two."
Three BU golfers finished among the top-20. Freshman Megan Heath carded a 76 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for ninth place at 153. It was her second top-10 finish of the season. Fellow freshman Abbie Gregory posted her second top-20 finish of the season as she tied for 12th place at 154 after shooting a team-low 75 in the final round. Junior Evin Edens had another solid performance as she tied for 16th place at 155. Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: junior Sydney Hudson (T-22nd, 157) and senior Shay Sullivan (T-50th, 164). Murray State's Delaney Howson was the individual medalist with a 36-hole score of 140.
Freshman Alexi Bevans competed as an individual and finished in 77th place at 175.
The women's golf team will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, October 21-22, at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
