NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont softball team (7-12, 0-3 OVC) will be looking to rebound after a tough opening weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play with a mid-week doubleheader on the road. The Bruins face off at Alabama A&M (7-11) on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs sport a 7-11 mark heading into Wednesday's duel. AAMU is led at the plate by Jasmine Riley, who is batting .485 with five doubles, one homerun and 10 RBI. Anisa Britt follows, batting .422, after collecting four doubles and three homeruns.
Inside the circle, Cassandra Brown does the lions' share of work, tossing more than 49 innings and tallying 29 strikeouts for an 8.21 ERA and 3-5 record. Britt, who has a corps-best 3.60 ERA, has recorded 20 innings of action and seven strikeouts.
Belmont hits the road with a 7-12 mark after dropping a trio of contests to visiting Eastern Kentucky to open its first season in the Ohio Valley Conference over the weekend.
BU is led at the plate by sophomore Kat Hollingsworth (Carrollton, Texas), who is batting .385 with nine doubles, a triple, three homeruns and 18 RBI. Junior Kim Johnson (Tucson, Ariz.) is batting .300 while sophomore Kirbie Ferrell (Pasadena, Texas) follows with a .290 average and four RBI.
Freshman Carolyn Snodgress (Torrance, Calif.) leads the BU pitching corps with a 2.49 ERA and a 3-3 record. She has fanned 39 batters in 45 innings of work. Classmate Taylor Moon (Vestavia, Ala.) sports a 3.40 ERA, tallied 14 strikeouts and has a 2-3 record.
