GLENCOE, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team finished in fourth place at this week's Chris Banister Classic hosted by Jacksonville State at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, Alabama.
Belmont carded a 319 in Tuesday's final round to finish in fourth place with a 54-hole score of 951. Host Jacksonville State won the team title with a score of 881. UALR placed second at 921, while Austin Peay finished in third at 950.
Three Bruins finished among the top-20. Junior Sydney Hudson finished in eighth place at 232. She posted an 80 in the final round. Fellow junior Evin Edens tied for 10th place at 236. She shot a team-low 77 in Tuesday's round. Freshman Abbie Gregory posted her first top-20 finish as a collegian as she tied for 18th with a three-round score of 242.
Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: freshman Megan Heath (T-23rd, 245) and senior Shay Sullivan (T-26th, 250).
Freshman Alexi Bevans, competing as an individual, had her first career hole-in-one in Tuesday's round. She scored an ace on par-3, 132 yard second hole. For the tournament, she finished 31st with a score of 259.
The women's golf team is back in action next Monday-Tuesday, September 9-10, at the Drake Creek Invitational in Murray, Kentucky.
