CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – On a day characterized by high winds and a wet golf course, the Belmont women's golf team is tied for the lead after round one of the APSU Intercollegiate held Monday at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Belmont carded a team score of 301 in the first round to finish the day tied for the team lead with fellow OVC rival Murray State. Tennessee Tech is one shot back in third place at 302, while Austin Peay is in fourth place at 311.
Three Bruins are currently ranked among the top-10 after day one. Freshman Mallory Sullivan is in fifth place after posting a two-over par 74. She is two shots back of the individual leader, Whitney Robertson of Tennessee Tech (72). Senior Evin Edens and freshman Katie Story are one shot back of Sullivan and in a tie for sixth place after each carded a 75. Other Belmont scores from round one included: senior Sydney Hudson (T-13, 77) and sophomore Abbie Gregory (T-27, 80).
Three BU golfers are competing as individuals: sophomore Megan Heath (T-6, 75), sophomore Alexi Bevans (T-20, 79), and freshman Maddie Williams (T-55, 89).
The second and final round will begin on Tuesday morning with a 9:00am shotgun start.
