GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in ninth place after round one of the UAB Fall Beach Blast held this week at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Belmont posted a score of 305 in Monday's first round to finish the day in ninth place. Western Kentucky has the team lead at 295, while Houston Baptist and Sam Houston State are tied for second at 296.
Two Bruins are among the top-25 after 18 holes of play. Senior Sydney Hudson carded a 75 on day one to finish the day tied for 15th. She is five shots behind individual leader, Alisa White of Sam Houston State. Freshman Mallory Sullivan is in a tie for 23rd place and one shot back of Hudson after shooting a 76 on Monday. Other Belmont scores from the first round included: senior Evin Edens (T-28, 77), sophomore Megan Heath (T-28, 77), and freshman Katie Story (T-49, 81).
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning with an 8:00am shotgun start.
