Offense Stalls as Softball is Swept by Murray State Sunday

MURRAY, Ky. -- The bats of the Belmont softball team fell silent Sunday as the Bruins were swept by Murray State this afternoon in doubleheader action at Racer Field.

Game 1: Murray State 7, Belmont 2

Murray State jumped out to a 7-0 advantage through the first six innings in the opening contest on the afternoon.

Jordan Daly (Humble, Tex.) lit up Belmont's side of the scoreboard for what proved to be only time of the afternoon as the sophomore hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning.

MSU's lead proved too much for the Bruins to overcome, however, as the Racers went on for the 7-2 victory.

Game 2: Murray State 5, Belmont 0

Belmont's offense continued to struggle in the second game of the doubleheader as the Bruins could only muster three hits on the contest as Murray State (15-13, 4-2 OVC) scored five runs off ten hits on their way to the easy, 5-0, shutout victory to record the sweep on the afternoon.

Murray State pitcher Mason Robinson (6-4) had a commanding effort from the mound as the freshman threw for six innings, allowing a pair of hits while striking out four Bruins.

Belmont (7-18, 1-5 OVC) will return to action this Wednesday as the Bruins will take a break from conference play as the Bruins host Evansville at 4 p.m. (CST).
