MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in fifth place after round one of the OVC Women's Golf Championship held Monday on the Fighting Joe Course at the Robert Trent Jones Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
On a warm, sunny day in North Alabama, Belmont posted a team score of 311 to finish the day in fifth place. Eastern Kentucky leads after day one with a score of 295. Jacksonville State is in second at 298, Murray State is in third place at 307, while Morehead State stands in fourth at 310.
The Bruins have two golfers among the top-15 after first round play. Junior Sydney Hudson is tied for 10th place after carding a four-over par 76. Senior Shay Sullivan is one shot back in a tie for 15th place after shooting a 77. Other BU scores from round one included: freshman Abbie Gregory (T-19, 79), freshman Megan Heath (T-19, 79), and junior Evin Edens (43rd, 87).
The individual leader after day one is Delaney Howson of Murray State, who shot a one-under par 71.
The second round will get underway on Tuesday morning at 8:00am on hole #1. Belmont's five golfers will tee off between 9:40-10:20am.
