LEDBETTER, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf teams stands in seventh place after day one of the Murray State/Jan Weaver Invitational held Monday at Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter, Kentucky.
The Bruins carded rounds of 312 and 307 to finish day one in seventh place with a 36-hole mark of 619. Southern Illinois is the tournament leader at 596, while Western Kentucky is in second at 608, with Tennessee Tech in third at 609.
Two Bruins are among the top-20 after 36 holes of play. Senior Sydney Hudson leads BU as she is tied for seventh place at 150. The Virginia native posted scores of 75 in each of the rounds played on day one. She is eight shots behind individual leader Brooke Cusamano of Southern Illinois, who is at 142. Freshman Katie Story, in her first collegiate event, is tied for 16th place at 153. She carded rounds of 79 and 74 on Monday. Other Belmont scores from day one included: Abbie Gregory (T-26, 156), Evin Edens (T-40, 160), and Mallory Sullivan (T-50, 164).
Two Belmont golfers are competing as individuals. Sophomore Alexi Bevans is tied for 22nd place at 154, while fellow classmate Megan Heath is tied for 40th place at 160.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning with an 8:30am shotgun start.
