CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Despite improving their score seven strokes from Monday's round, the Belmont women's golf team finished in fourth place at the APSU Intercollegiate held this week at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Bruins posted a team score of 312 in Tuesday's final round to finish the tournament in fourth with a 36-hole mark of 631. Host Austin Peay won the team title with a score of 619. Lipscomb placed second at 625, while Tennessee Tech was third at 626.
Belmont had two golfers finish among the top-10. Junior Abbie Gregory shot a 77 in the final round and finished in a tie for fourth with a two-round score of 154. She finished nine shots behind individual medalist, Jessica Cathey of Austin Peay (145). It was Gregory's best finish as a collegian and her third top-10 finish in three tournaments this fall. Sophomore Mallory Sullivan posted her first top-10 finish of the season as she tied for seventh place at 155. The Smithville, Tennessee native shot a 77 in Tuesday's round.
Other Belmont scores from the event included: junior Megan Heath (T-20, 161), redshirt sophomore Maddie Williams (T-26, 164), and freshman Emma Kate Liu (T-26, 164).
Two BU golfers competed as individuals. Redshirt sophomore Cori Burns tied for seventh at 155. It was her first top-10 finish as a Bruin. Junior Alexi Bevans tied for 35th place at 169.
The women's golf team is back in action next Monday-Tuesday, October 19-20, at the Blue Raider Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
