GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team is tied for ninth place after round one of the UAB Fall Beach Blast held Monday at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The Bruins posted a team score of 306 in Monday's first round to finish the day tied for ninth place with South Dakota. McNeese State has the team lead at 294, while Southern Miss and Austin Peay are tied for second at 299.
Two Belmont golfers are among the top-10 after 18 holes. Freshman Emma Kate Liu is tied for fifth place after carding a 72, her best round as a collegian. She is three shots behind the leaders, Kennedy Bodfield of McNeese State and UAB's Kayla Wilborn, who each shot 69. Junior Abbie Gregory is one shot back in a tie for seventh place after shooting a 73 on Monday.
Other Belmont scores from the first round included: junior Megan Heath (T-23, 76), junior Alexi Bevans (55th, 85), and sophomore Mallory Sullivan (T-56, 86).
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:00am.
