SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Paced by Sydney Hudson's career best round of 71, the Belmont women's golf team is in first place after round one of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate held Monday at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee. In addition, Hudson has the individual lead.
Belmont carded a score of 295 on Monday to grab the first round lead. They are 14 shots ahead of second place Eastern Kentucky (309) and 17 ahead of third place Jacksonville State (312).
Hudson is one of four Bruins in the top-10 after day one. The Virginia native carded an even par 71 on Monday to take the individual lead. She is one stroke ahead of Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville, who is in second place at 72.
Teammate Katie Story is two strokes behind Hudson in third place after posting a 73. Sophomore Megan Heath shot a 75 and is in a tie for fifth place, while freshman Mallory Sullivan is tied for ninth place after carding a 76. Rounding out the scores for Belmont is senior Evin Edens, who is tied for 19th at 79.
Three Belmont golfers are competing as individuals: sophomore Abbie Gregory (T-15, 78), redshirt freshman Maddie Williams (42nd, 86), and sophomore Alexi Bevans (T-55, 92).
The second and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30am CT.
