OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in sixth place after two rounds of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Women's Golf Championship held this week at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
On a bright sunny Tuesday, the Bruins just couldn't get many birdies to drop on the Highlands Course. They shot a team score of 313 to drop two spots to sixth place with a 36-hole mark of 619. Jacksonville State continues to lead at 602, with Eastern Kentucky in second at 606, Tennessee Tech in third place at 608, and Murray State and Morehead State tied for fourth at 618.
Two Bruins rank among the top-15 after two rounds. Freshmen Katie Story and Mallory Sullivan are each tied for 11th place at 153. Story posted a two-over 74 on Tuesday, while Sullivan shot an 82. Senior Evin Edens is tied for 16th at 156 after carding a 78 in the second round. Other Belmont scores included: senior Sydney Hudson (T-29, 160) and sophomore Megan Heath (40th, 165)
The individual leaders are Anna Magnusson of Morehead State and Whitney Robertson of Tennessee Tech. Each has a 36-hole score of 145.
The third and final round of the championship will begin Wednesday morning at 8:00am. Belmont will tee off between 9:40-10:20am. Live scoring of the championship can be found at www.ovcsports.com and ww.golfstat.com.
