MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --Belmont softball dropped a midweek contest to Middle Tennessee (18-24) Wednesday evening as the Blue Raiders prevailed 10-0 in five innnings of play.
All 10 of MT's runs came in just two innings of play. The hosts used five hits in order to record four runs in the bottom of third inning and added six runs off five hits in the home half of the fifth as the Blue Raiders went on for the 10-0 shutout victory over the Bruins.
BU recorded six hits on the evening as sophomore Kayla Wells (Bonney Lake, Wash.) finished 2-for-3 at the plate and freshman Taylor Hodge finished a perfect 2-for-2.
Belmont (10-29) returns to Rose Park this weekend as the Bruins are set to close out their 2015 home schedule with a three-game series with Jacksonville State.
BU is set for a doubleheader with the Gamecocks on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. and will wrap up the series with a single game contest on Sunday with first pitch slated for 12:30 p.m.
Saturday will be Greek Day at Rose Park as we look to set a new home softball attendance record and Sunday's contest will be Senior Day as we plan to celebrate the accomplishments of the five Bruin seniors.
