RICHMOND, Ky. – In their first tournament of the fall season, the Belmont women's golf team finished fifth at the EKU Bluegrass Kickoff held Monday at The University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky.
In today's 36-hole event, the Bruins posted rounds of 317 and 309 for a final total of 626, which put them in fifth place. Host Eastern Kentucky won the team title with a score of 585.
Two Bruins finished among the top-10. Junior Abbie Gregory finished in a tie for seventh place at 148. She carded rounds of 71 and 77 on Monday. Her first round score of 71 was the lowest of her Belmont career. Redshirt sophomore Maddie Williams, competing as an individual, tied for 10th place with a two round score of 149 as shooting rounds of 76 and 73. Her 10th place finish and her round of 73 were both career bests.
Other Belmont scores from Monday's play included: redshirt sophomore Cori Burns (28th, 159), sophomore Mallory Sullivan (T-29, 160), junior Alexi Bevans (T-29, 160), freshman Emma Kate Liu (T-32, 161), and junior Megan Heath (34th, 170).
The women's golf team will be back in action on September 14-15 at the Murray State/Weaver Invitational in Paducah, Kentucky.
