MURRAY, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in fourth place after round one of the Murray State Invitational held Monday at the Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.
The Bruins posted a team score of 314 in Monday's first round to stand in fourth place. Host Murray State has the team lead at 303, while Southern Illinois is in second at 306, with SIUE is in third at 313.
Three Bruins rank in the top-10 after 18 holes. Junior Abbie Gregory continued her solid play by carding a 76, which puts her in a tie for fourth place. She is three shots behind tournament leader, Sydney Trimble of Murray State, who shot a 73. Redshirt sophomore Maddie Williams and junior Megan Heath, competing as an individual, are tied for seventh place after each posted a 77 on Monday.
Other Belmont scores from round one included: sophomore Mallory Sullivan (T-26, 80), freshman Emma Kate Liu (T-35, 81), redshirt sophomore Cori Burns (T-44, 82).
Junior Alexi Bevans, also competing as an individual along with Heath, is tied for 63rd place at 87.
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 10:00am.
