GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team fell to Austin Peay in their two-day dual match played this week on the Cypress Bend course at Craft Farms in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
On another windy day on Gulf of Mexico, the Bruins posted a team score of 318 to finish the event with a total score of 641. Austin Peay shot a 307 on Thursday to win the match by 22 strokes (619-641).
Belmont was led by freshman Emma Kate Liu, who finished the 36-hole event with a score of 158. The Dallas native shot a three-over par 75 in Thursday's final round. Junior Abbie Gregory posted an 80 in today's play to finish with a score of 159. Megan Heath carded a 161, while Alexi Bevans shot a two-day score of 163.
The Lady Govs were led by senior Jessica Cathey, who was the individual medalist after posting a 36-hole mark of 148 (77-71). Amber Bosworth had the second lowest score as she shot a 154.
The women's golf team will be back in action on March 21-22 at the Samford Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Alabama.
