BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team is in eighth place after day one of the Samford Intercollegiate held this week at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.
Belmont carded rounds of 323 and 312 on Monday to finish the day in eighth place at 635. Troy has the team lead at 577, while Charleston Southern is second at 594.
The Bruins are led by junior Megan Heath. The Auburn, Alabama native shot rounds of 80 and 73 to finish the day tied for 18th place at 153. Fellow junior Abbie Gregory is four shots back and in a tie for 26th place after posting a 157 (82-75).
Other Belmont scores from Monday included: junior Alexi Bevans (T-42, 162) and freshman Emma Kate Liu (T-45, 163). Junior Maddie Williams withdrew after the first round due to an injury.
The third and final round is set to begin Tuesday morning at 8:30am.
