RICHMOND, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in ninth place after day one of the EKU Colonel Classic held Friday at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky.
The Bruins posted identical team scores of 319 on Friday to finish the day in ninth place with a 36-hole mark of 638. Host Eastern Kentucky has the team lead at 611, while Ohio, Ball State, and Tennessee Tech are all tied for second at 617.
Belmont is led by junior Megan Heath. The Auburn, Alabama native carded rounds of 81 and 76 on Friday to finish in a tie for 22nd place at 157. Fellow junior Abbie Gregory is tied for 32nd place after day one after posting rounds of 78 and 81 for a total of 159.
Other Belmont scores from Friday included: freshman Emma Kate Liu (T-47, 163) and junior Alexi Bevans (T-55, 165). Sophomore Mallory Sullivan shot a 78 in round one, but withdrew before the second round due to injury.
IUPUI's Aneta Abrahamova is the individual leader with a score of 142.
