OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team is in seventh place after the first round of the OVC Championship held Monday on the Highlands Course at the RTJ Trail at Hampton Cove in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
Belmont carded a team score of 317 on Monday to finish the day in seventh place. Eastern Kentucky has the team lead at 293, with Murray State in second at 304 and Jacksonville State in third at 307.
The Bruins have three golfers among the top-25 after round one. Freshman Emma Kate Liu had a solid day as she is tied for fifth place after carding a two-over par 74. She is six shots behind individual leader, Anna Gleixner of Eastern Kentucky (68). Juniors Megan Heath and Abbie Gregory are tied for 24th after each shot an 80 on Monday.
Other BU scores from day one included: sophomore Maddie Williams (T-36, 83) and junior Alexi Bevans (T-41, 85).
The second round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am. The Bruins will tee off from the first hole from 8:50-9:30am.
