OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team remains in seventh place after the second round of the OVC Championship held Tuesday at the Highlands Course at the RTJ Golf Trail at Hampton Cove in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. In addition, freshman Emma Kate Liu stands alone in third place after 36 holes.
Belmont carded a team score of 306 in Tuesday's second round to finish the day in seventh place at 623. Eastern Kentucky remained in the lead at 587, with Jacksonville State in second at 607 and Morehead State in third place at 612.
Liu had another solid day for the Bruins. The Dallas, Texas native posted her second straight two-over par round of 74 to finish the day alone in third place at 148. She is six shots back of co-leaders, Anna Gleixner of Eastern Kentucky and Murray State's Moa Folke.
Two other BU golfers rank among the top-25 after two rounds. Junior Megan Heath is tied for 18th place at 154 after shooting a two-over par 74 on Tuesday. Fellow junior Abbie Gregory is four shots back of Heath and in a tie for 23rd place at 158 after carding a 78.
Other Belmont scores included: sophomore Maddie Williams (T-34, 163) and junior Alexi Bevans (T-43, 172).
The third and final round will begin Wednesday morning at 8:00am from the first hole. Belmont's tee times will be from 8:50-9:30am.
