MURRAY, Ky. – On a cold day that featured sustained winds of over 20 miles per hour throughout play, the Belmont women's golf team stands in 10th place after day one of the Murray State/Jan Weaver Invitational held Friday at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.
The Bruins posted rounds of 327 and 326 to finish the day in 10th place with a score of 653. Host Murray State has the team led at 619, while Morehead State is second at 624.
Leading the way for Belmont is junior Megan Heath. The Auburn, Alabama native is tied for 28th place at 162 after carding identical rounds of 81 on Friday. Fellow junior Abbie Gregory and freshman Emma Kate Liu are each tied for 38th place at 164. Gregory carded rounds of 79 and 85, while Liu posted rounds of 84 and 80. Junior Alexi Bevans is in 65th place at 176.
Sophomores Mallory Sullivan and Maddie Williams played the first round on Friday, but withdrew before the start of the second. In the first round, Sullivan shot an 83, while Williams posted an 84.
Murray State's Moa Folke has the individual lead at 151.
The third and final round is set to begin on Saturday morning with an 8:30am shotgun start.
