GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf has the lead after the first round of their dual match with Austin Peay held Friday at the Cotton Creek course at Craft Farms in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
On a sunny, warm day on the Gulf Coast, the Bruins posted a team score of 309 on Friday to finish the day eight shots ahead of Austin Peay, who carded a 317.
Belmont is led by junior Mallory Sullivan and sophomore Emma Kate Liu. Sullivan tied for the lowest score of the day as she shot a three-over par 75 on Friday. Liu, a Dallas native, posted a five-over par 77 in her first round.
Other first round scores included: freshman Julia Nittoli – 78, senior Abbie Gregory – 79, and senior Megan Heath – 80.
Three other Bruins competed as individuals: redshirt junior Maddie Williams and freshman Carlee Nanney – 82 and senior Alexi Bevans – 89.
Austin Peay was led by sophomore Taylor Goodley, who shot a 75 in round one.
The second and final round will begin Saturday morning at 8:00am.
