SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team remains in third place after the second round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate held Sunday at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee.
On a cool, cloudy day, the Bruins were red hot on the course. They posted a team score of 296 to finish the day in third place at 613. Their 296 was the lowest posted by BU since the first round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate in March of 2015 (295). Lee has the team lead with a mark of 601, while host Tennessee Tech is second at 609.
All five Bruins rank among the top-20 after 36 holes. Freshman Julia Nittoli is tied for fifth place at 152 after posting a 76 on Tuesday. She is eight shots behind individual leader, Elizabeth England of Carson-Newman.
Sophomore Emma Kate Liu had an outstanding day, posting a career-best score of 70 to finish in 11th place at 154. Her score of 70 was the lowest by a Belmont golfer since Mallory Sullivan's 70 at the APSU Intercollegiate in October of 2014.
Seniors Abbie Gregory and Megan Heath each shot a 75 in the second round to finish the day in a tie for 13th place at 156. Junior Mallory Sullivan is tied for 18th place at 159.
Three Bruins are competing as individuals. Freshman Carlee Nanney is in 31st place at 167, while redshirt junior Maddie Williams is tied for 37th place at 173. Senior Alexi Bevans had to withdraw during the middle of her round due to an injury.
Due to a weather forecast that calls for rain, the start time for play on Tuesday has been moved up earlier. The third and final round will begin with at 9:00am ET shotgun start.
