MURRAY, Ky. – With a solid final round, the Belmont women's golf team finished in sixth place at this weekend's Murray State/Jan Weaver Invitational held at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.
On a warm, sunny Saturday, Belmont carded a team score of 302 in Saturday's final round to move up a spot and finish in sixth place at 941. Host Murray State won the team title at 893, while Western Kentucky placed second at 917.
Two Bruins finished among the top-20. Senior Megan Heath carded a final round 76 to finish in ninth place at 229. She finished seven shots behind individual medalists: Moa Folke and Linette Holnslykke of Murray State. It was Heath's third top-10 of the season.
Fellow senior Abbie Gregory shot a 72 in the final round to finish in a tie for 19th place at 234. With her finish, Gregory continued her streak of having a top-20 finish in every event this season.
Other Belmont scores included: junior Mallory Sullivan (T-27, 238), sophomore Emma Kate Liu (34th, 240), and freshman Carlee Nanney (T-50, 253).
Redshirt junior Maddie Williams, competing as an individual, tied for 50th at 253.
Freshman Julia Nittoli and senior Alexi Bevans, who withdrew after round one due to injury, came back and competed in the final round. Nittoli shot a 78, while Bevans carded an 81.
The women's golf team will be back in action on April 17-19 at the OVC Championship at Hampton Cove Golf Course in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
