NASHVILLE, Tenn. – This week, Belmont Softball's (4-7, 1-2 OVC) road stretch begins locally with a stop at neighboring Lipscomb (9-7) for the annual Battle of the Boulevard duel on Wednesday afternoon.
Lipscomb brings a two-game win streak into the midweek Battle of the Boulevard, standing at 9-7 overall. The Bisons are led at the plate by Amy Vetula, who is batting .385 with 13 runs scored on 20 hits with a double, a triple and 11 RBI. She is followed by Kamrie Rich, who has tallied seen runs on 19 hits with a pair of doubles, one triple, two homeruns and nine RBI.
Breana Burke leads Lipscomb's efforts inside the circle, tossing a corps-leading 59.2 innings with 44 strikeouts a 6-2 record and an ERA of 2.23.
LU leads the all-time series, 32-9. The teams last faced off in 2018 at Draper Diamond with the Bisons coming away with the win.
BU will be looking to continue its strong performances of late with this upcoming midweek contest. Senior Cheyenne Cavanaugh (Spring, Texas) leads the team at the plate, batting .333 with three runs on 11 hits, a pair of doubles, a triple and four RBI. Junior Audrey Lyle (Westlake, Ohio) is right behind her, batting .294 with five runs scored, seven hits, three homeruns and five RBI.
Inside the circle, Belmont has looked to senior Alicia Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.) to lead the pitching corps. She has tossed a team-leading 32.2 innings, fanning 26 batters. She has a record of 2-4 and an ERA of 3.21. Classmate Autumn McDanel (Moravia, Iowa) sports a 2-1 record with a 3.27 ERA after throwing 15.0 innings and notching nine strikeouts.
