Box Score 2 MARTIN, Tenn. – Belmont University Softball went one and one on the day against UT Martin and 1-2 on the series.
Game One:
The Bruins had fire in their eyes today after breaking their 11 game winning streak yesterday against the Skyhawks. Wanting to get on the board early they did just that. Top of the first Abi Ledbetter walked as did Alicia Veltri to move Ledbetter into scoring position. Kristen Green roped a single to score Ledbetter, 1-0.
Kristen Green added her fifth homerun of the season, for a 2 RBI slap to bring in Alicia Veltri, 3-0.
Cheyenne Cavanaugh ripped a single up the middle to bring in Ensio, 4-0.
The Skyhawks got on the board in the fourth with a homerun from Sheyenne Sheffield, 4-2.
Bottom of the fifth the Skyhawk's Maddi Long homered to complete their scoring for the game, 4-3.
The Bruins held the Skyhawks to the 4-3 score to go even in the series.
Game Two:
The Bruins found themselves unlucky at the plate for the first five innings. The same remained true for the Skyhawks as the Bruins recorded their fifth shutout of the season. Pitcher Emma Summers is now 8-3 on the season pitching her second complete game of the weekend.
Bases loaded in the top of the sixth, Elison Ollinger reached on a fielder's choice. Ledbetter was able to score on a throwing error, 1-0.
The Skyhawks closed out the game with a 2 run walkoff homerun to win the series.

The Bruins head to Western Kentucky University for a midweek matchup Wednesday, April 6 at 6 p.m.
