NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University women's soccer alumna Emily Proud ('16) has been hired by CBS Sports, the sports journalist announced on social media Monday.
Proud will serve as anchor and host on the CBS 247 Sports platforms, with an emphasis on college football programming.
The former Belmont midfielder spent the past four years at WKRN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Nashville, serving both as weekend news anchor and sports anchor/reporter.
Proud began her broadcasting career at WATE-TV, the ABC affiliate in her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee.
In 2018, Proud was named one of the nation's "Top 30 Sportscasters Under 30" by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA).
Proud earned her bachelor's degree in journalism, with a sports and media emphasis. While at Belmont, she was honored by the Southeast Journalism Conference in the categories of "Best Feature Writer" and "Best TV Reporter."
The four-year letterwinner in soccer was named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll three times and earned the OVC Academic Medal of Honor as a senior.
Proud worked as a sideline reporter at the OVC Basketball Tournament and was part of Belmont's run of OVC Digital Network Program of Excellence Awards.
She continued to serve as lead sideline reporter for Belmont men's and women's basketball as part of the Bruins' ESPN+ broadcasts.
