RICHMOND, Ky. – The Belmont women's tennis team was edged by Eastern Kentucky 4-3 in a match played Saturday in Richmond, Kentucky.
The Colonels picked up the first point of the match as they earned two doubles wins. The lone Belmont victory came at number two as senior
Viktoria Kliimand and sophomore
Hana Sokolovic defeated Zhansaya Bakytzhan and Sasha Parkhomenko 7-5. Â
In singles, both teams split the six singles matches, which led the Colonels to a 4-3 match win. The Bruins earned wins at positions one, two, and five.
At one, senior
Anastasiya Zholdakova defeated Masha Fedenko in three sets: 7-6, 2-6, 7-5. Then at two, Kliimand outlasted Sasha Parkomenko 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.
Freshman
Sarah McElrath was victorious in straight sets at the No. 6 spot against Eastern Kentucky's Zhansaya Bakytzhan, 7-6 (4), 6-1.
