Softball Drops Game Two of Weekend Series

Bruins Fall to the Beacons Friday Afternoon

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball Program (31-12, 15-5 MVC) dropped game two of the weekend series 1-3 to Valparaiso (18-23, 7-12 MVC) Friday afternoon.

How it Happened
Neither team could get in an offensive rhythm in the first leaving the score at zeros.

Valpo quickly loaded the bases in the top of the second. Ellie Giles got the start in the circle for the Bruins and with her defense behind her, Belmont recorded the third out to keep the Beacons scoreless through two.

The Beacons went on to add three runs in the top of the third. Belmont headed into the fourth down 0-3.

Both teams faced scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth leaving the Bruins down three.

In the bottom of the sixth, Belmont worked to close the gap as Emily Cockrill hit a home run to center. The Bruins faced a two-point deficit heading into the final inning.

The Bruins were unable to rally down the stretch to result in a 1-3 game two loss.
