NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In its second match at the Ensworth Tennis Center in less than 24 hours, the Belmont University women's tennis team fell 4-1 to visiting North Alabama. Freshman
Ketevan Jeladze provided the Bruins (0-6) with their lone point Saturday afternoon in Nashville, winning in straight sets at No. 4 singles.
Â
The Lions (5-2) cruised in doubles, taking the top and third spots in 6-1 fashion to clinch the doubles point before winning three of four singles matches.
Â
On court four, Jeladze dismissed North Alabama's Louise Booker 6-2, 6-2. However, it would be Belmont's only bright spot.
Â
The Lions lost only four combined games across the top two singles positions and North Alabama's Sammie Schouten secured a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
Â
At third singles, graduate
Cielo Tapia-Cruz was even at 5-5 in the second set with the Lions' Mathilde Delaney when North Alabama won its clinching fourth point. Junior
Emma Grant's No. 6 singles match against the Lions' Farah Asaad also went unfinished.
