NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball team capped a perfect home opening weekend Sunday afternoon with a 3–0 shutout victory over Ohio University at E.S. Rose Park. The win secured a 5–0 weekend for the Bruins, who improved to 13–5 overall.

Belmont opened the scoring in the first inning as Nicole Hughes lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Emily Konz to score.
The Bruins added room in the fifth. Hughes came through again, doubling to right field to drive in Rylee Spindler, before Madison Dolecki followed with an RBI double of her own to plate Hughes and extend the lead to 3–0.
In the circle, Maya Johnson delivered a dominant performance. Johnson allowed just one hit, struck out 17, and walked only one batter in a complete-game shutout to move to 8–0 on the season. With the outing, she surpassed 900 career strikeouts, adding another milestone to her standout career.
