NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team heads to South Pittsburg, Tennessee outside of Chattanooga Monday-Wednesday for the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate at Sweetens Cove Golf Course.
BRUIN BITES
- At last week's Peoples Championship, the Bruins placed 11th. Junior Grant Clark led Belmont with a tie fort 12th place, his best finish as a Bruin.
- Freshman Charlie Spiller leads BU in scoring with a 72.6 average. Junior Chris Harpum is right behind in second place at 72.8.
- Senior Conner Brown leads the Bruin in top-10 and top-20 showings. He has three top-10s and four top-20s.
The Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate is a three-day match play event involving eight teams: host Miami (OH), Belmont, Bowling Green, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Queens, Seton Hall, and Wright State.
The eight teams are seeded by NCAA/Clippd rankings and placed into two brackets. First round matches are scheduled for Monday. The semifinals and consolation matches will be played Tuesday, with the finals and all remaining consolation matches held on Wednesday.
The tournament will be held at the Sweetens Cove Golf Course in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Sweetens Cove is a nine-hole layout that plays to a par 36 and a length of 3,301 yards. Ranked by Golfweek at the 49
th Modern Golf Course in the nation, the layout features wide fairways, large waste areas, and distinctive greens.
Last year, the Bruins finished fifth in this event. They lost to Miami (OH) in the first round, beat Bowling Green in the consolation round, and then defeated Ohio in the fifth place match.
