NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball team (27–9, 14–3) closed out a perfect weekend at E.S. Rose Park, defeating Drake University 6–2 on Saturday to complete the series sweep.Â
On a sunny day in Nashville, the Bruins battled back from an early deficit and used timely hitting alongside another dominant performance in the circle to secure their third win of the series.Â
VS Drake – Game 3 (6–2)Â
Drake struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a pair of runs to take an early 2–0 lead.Â
Belmont responded in the second inning as Emily Konz delivered a double to right center, driving in two runs to even the score at 2–2.Â
The game remained tight until the fifth inning when the Bruins broke through. Maddy Balsiger gave Belmont its first lead of the day with an RBI single, and Brenna Blume followed with the decisive swing, a three-run home run to center field. to extend the advantage to 6–2.Â
In the circle, Maya Johnson continued her dominant season, tossing a complete game while allowing just one earned run on five hits. The senior struck out 14 to improve to 19–1 on the year.Â
